Our clients vehicle was damaged by hail in the big Sydney hail storms and due to the volume of vehicles impacted, had to wait some time for their repairs to be booked in.

While waiting for their booking,  unfortunately the client was  involved in an accident  in the hail damaged vehicle and as a result their car was deemed a total loss. Obviously this wasn’t great news given our client given  had already been so patient in waiting for their car to be repaired.

Fortunately our client had an insurance policy that had full replacement following a total loss, however they did not wish to have their vehicle replaced with the same model  and preferred to change vehicles.

Under normal circumstances, this would mean the client would receive a cash settlement based on the market value of their  vehicle, which was  less than the amount for the same replacement vehicle. We spoke with the insurer and learned that while the policy did indicate this  was the clients only choice,  they had  recently introduced a new policy whereby the client  could be cash settled based on the “replacement vehicle amount” not “market value” as  the vehicle fell within the  replacement period. As such, we asked for this to apply to our clients claim and they ended up receiving $25,000 more than the market value.

Our client was then able to purchase the car they wanted, a great outcome the result of having a Claims Executive who was able to push for the best claims settlement .
